This air crash has been one of the scariest as it has caused huge number of fatalities, the number going up till 269 fatalities, without any signs of danger. It is one of the most terror some moments during the time of the Cold War. A flight from Anchorage to Seoul had got diverted on its route due to some extreme navigation troubles they were facing. This flight took off and started going towards the route of the Korean Airlines 007, thus causing a delay, leading to a collision between both the flights, and the worst, none of the flights knew that this danger was coming to them. There was a lot of miscommunication gap too which took place internally between the flights as well as the protection team and the flights.
9. American Airlines Flight 191
This air crash took place on the United States soil in the year 1976. It is known to be one of the most ruthless air plane crashes ever. Generally regarded as a safe plane, this airline has already had the reputation of a very bad safety air plane While taking off from the O’Hare Airport, US, one of the pylons attached to the wings of the plane just broke off, thus pulling the whole engine with itself on the runway. It also damaged other minor engines and wings of the air plane and also led to the leakage of the hydraulic fluid essential for the functioning of the other minor remaining engines. All the electrical wires of the plane got cut, thus resulting in more than 270 fatalities.
8. Iran Air Flight 665
This was more or less a cold tension between the United States Navy and the country of Iran during the Iran-Iraq war. Apparently, according to the controversial military accidents, an Iranian Airbus was shot by a US fighter plane, the USS Vincennes. The crew of the Airbus had previously received three calls to basically direct them towards another Iranian airline. When no one among the crew members attended to the call, shortly after sometime they spot the USS Vincennes firing two missiles at them. The justification of why and how the Iranian Airbus was shot down still remains a question, but it remains one of the unsolved deadly air crashes of the world.
7. 1996 Air Africa Crash
Not much has been learnt about this air crash which took place in 1996, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. With some news and sources, this flight was leased from Russia and it was being used to transport weapons and other military service to the Angolan military group. This flight was probably over boarded and was completely fueled during its scheduled flight time. it carried way too many passengers. Also, this flight was being flown out of licence, due to which this crash is also known for its illegitimacy. Just when this flight was about to take off, it was unable to reach the required speed for a total take off but it lifted up in the air somehow. But the airline went crashing into a nearby marketplace, killing about more than 250-300 people.
6. Saudia Flight 163
The Saudia Flight 163 had just taken off from Riyadh a couple of minutes before, not long until the crew of the flight experience a kind of smoke in the compartment. Due to the damage caused by the fire, one engine of the airline had to be shut off and the aircraft was directed to fly back to the airport at Riyadh. The flight landed carefully but somehow the airline just couldn’t stop and brake at the emergency vehicles stationed for them at the runway and neither were the emergency doors of the airline opened even after they landed. A lot of people died due to the suffocation brought about by the smoke. The reason and cause of the smoke in the compartment was never known, but after that strict rule has been levied to not carry any kind of inflammable substance in the cargo compartments of airlines.
5. Iran Ilyushin II-76 Crash
Extremely less information is available about this airline crash which took place in Iran in the year 1986. Most passengers were believed to belong to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. It is said that high winds and fog are some of the probable reasons for this really bad airline crash. This airline crash saw the death of more than 300 people, yet nothing much is known about the cause of the crash. Terrorism attacks, malfunctioning of the engines, or air collision, no one has yet been able to find out the exact reason for this crash.
4. Turkish Airlines Flight 981
This flight had way too many passengers on its route from London to Paris, due to some British strike caused there in 1974. The moment they passed Meaux, France, the crew witnessed a huge muffled explosion with a massive gush of air, and then the next thing they knew was that the cargo hatch blew off. The crew tried fighting this menace for a period of 72 seconds, but couldn’t do anything but just crash into a nearby forest. Due to the cargo hatch been blown off, the cabin below the cargo compartment collapsed, leading to the disconnection of several electrical lines which connected to the main engines of the airlines. The airline was damaged and deteriorated do badly that the main cause people think of this crash is a bomb.
3. Charkhi Dadri Collision
This airline collision took place in Indian in the year 1996, when a Kazakhstan airline was directed to descend from an altitude of 4600 feet. The cockpit crew in the airline knew limited English. This led to massive miscommunication between the crew and the Air Traffic Control. Meanwhile, a Saudi Arabian airline was passing through the same route, but before the Kazakhstan airline could be informed to stay at an altitude of 4600 feet, the Kazakhstan airline went colliding into the Saudi Arabian airline, thus leading to a massive explosion costing 349 lives in the airline.
2. Japan Airlines Flight 123
The Japan Airlines Flight 123 was carrying a huge number of passengers, almost about more than 200 people, in the year of 1985. Couple of minutes after the flight took off from Japan, the area between the cabin and the tail failed to function, thus resulting in the damage and malfunction of all the four hydraulic systems of the chamber. The pilot eventually lost all control on the major engines which were required for a safe flight, and then decided to return to Tokyo. But while on their way to the city, the airline just kept wandering and finally ended up crashing in the mountains dangerously, leaving nothing but a puff of smoke in the air.
1. Tenerife Disaster
This is one of the major airline accidents which took place in the 1977 and remains of the deadliest in the history of airline crashes. After the Gran Canaria airport was shut down due to some bombing terror activity, all the flight which were supposed to land at Gran Canaria were now directed to land at the Los Rodeos Airport on Tenerife. There were two flight stations there among which one was the Pan Am airline. A Dutch airline named KLM landed there to refuel its engine. When the Pan Am was ready to take off, they realized that KLM was blocking the airlines way and therefore both the airlines had to wait, and unfortunately gave some time to fog to set in. due to a miscommunication which happened during the take-off of both the flight simultaneously on the Los Redeos runway, and due to the blurred and unclear vision set in by the fog, both the flights collided with each other, thus resulting in a massive explosion, killing people in both the airlines on the spot.
